For certain projects, wall or roof vents alone might not be enough to comply with the relevant Building Regulations. They will often need to be used in conjunction with other products as part of a natural or smoke ventilation system.
An AOV rooflight, for example, will need to be operated via a 24v control panel with battery back-up and certified to EN12101-10. The control systems can be connected to a variety of inputs, including the building fire alarm, override switches and smoke sensors. When the system is activated, the window actuator will drive the rooflight open to vent smoke from that area of the building.
